Softball Recap: Stevenson Wins Going Away Against Carmel

Stevenson got themselves on the board against Carmel on Friday, but Carmel never followed suit. They blew past the Corsairs 10-0. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Corsairs: they've now won three in a row.

Ava Potempa tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Jepson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Shimanski, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Stevenson pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 16.3 runs. As for Carmel, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-3.

Looking ahead, Stevenson will head out to take on Lake Zurich at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Carmel, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Marist at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
