Basketball Recap: Winchester Community Comes Up Short

After flying high against Union City last Tuesday, Winchester Community came back down to earth. The Winchester Community Golden Falcons took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Union County Patriots. If the Golden Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 38-35 to them when the teams met on Saturday, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Winchester Community's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-6. As for Union County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winchester Community will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lapel at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Lapel is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season. Union County will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against Hamilton Heights at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
