Baseball Recap: Elmwood's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Elmwood entered their tilt with Genoa Area on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Comets. That's more bragging rights for the Royals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gabe Schafer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Landon Snow and Marshal Taft did most of the damage at the plate: Snow went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI, while Taft went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Those three hits gave Taft a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Allen, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Elmwood's victory bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Genoa Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Elmwood and Genoa Area could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Royals will take on Perrysburg at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (286 vs. 42). Meanwhile, Genoa Area (ranked 428th) will meet Bellevue (ranked 201st) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
