Football Game Preview: Thornton Wildcats vs. Bloom Blazing Trojan

The Thornton Wildcats will head out to face off against the Bloom Blazing Trojan at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Thornton hasn't scored more than six points for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Thornton is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Kankakee on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Wildcats were beaten by the Kays 52-6. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

Meanwhile, Bloom had to suffer through a 52-7 loss at the hands of Crete-Monee. While losing is never fun, the Blazing Trojan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 365th, while the Warriors are ranked 124th).

Thornton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Bloom, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Things could have been worse for Thornton, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 14-0 loss to Bloom when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
