Football Preview: Whitwell Tigers vs. South Pittsburg Pirates
Whitwell hasn't had much luck against South Pittsburg recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will head out to square off against the Pirates at 8:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Whitwell was able to grind out a solid win over Jo Byrns, taking the game 15-7. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whitwell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bennett Goforth, who rushed for 57 yards and one TD.all of that, rushing production came thanks to one massive run Adam McDougal helped out on the ground, rushing for 117 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Whitwell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Copper Basin 86-7. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by 24 points or more this season.
Whitwell's record is now 3-6. As for South Pittsburg, their record now sits at 8-1.
Whitwell was taken down by South Pittsburg 49-7 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Tigers were down 28-0.
