Basketball Recap: Northwood Beats Jimtown for Their Fourth Straight Win

NorthWood extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Claire Payne. The NorthWood Panthers blew past the Jimtown Jimmies 49-14 on Thursday thanks in part to Payne, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Haylee Heflin, who posted nine points in addition to five boards and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

NorthWood's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points per game. As for Jimtown, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

NorthWood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-42 win against Plymouth on the 21st. As for Jimtown, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Niles at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
