Basketball Recap: Norris Takes a Loss

Norris lost against Pius X back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Norris Titans fell just short of the Pius X Thunderbolts by a score of 44-41. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Thunderbolts are ranked fourth).

Despite the loss, Norris still got an impressive performance from Ize Tidball, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards. Ray Wegner was another key player, putting up six points and ten rebounds.

Pius X's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keeleigh Knobbe led the charge by earning ten points along with four blocks and three steals. The dominant performance gave Knobbe a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Bedient, who shot 83% from the field en route to 13 points and six boards.

Norris' loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 15-8. As for Pius X, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.

Norris didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-30 win against Seward on the 1st. As for Pius X, they have also already played their next game, a 56-36 victory against Elkhorn North on the 1st.
