Volleyball Recap: Brackenridge Starts Season with Loss at Home

Brackenridge unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the John F. Kennedy Rockets on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Rockets recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Brackenridge was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-16, 25-19.

Their offense was headlined by Alina Valdez and Laiana Clack, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Danica Moody and her ten assists.

John F. Kennedy found their leader in sophomore Makalya Aragon, who had 18 digs and four aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Genesis Hernandez, who had ten assists and six digs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brackenridge will face off against Edison at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for John F. Kennedy, they will be taking part in a tournament against Burbank at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
