While St. Ignatius's win against Mayfield wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. St. Ignatius had just enough and edged out Mayfield 6-5. St. Ignatius hasn't had any issues with Mayfield recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Vince Durny looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Jackson Boyer and Brayden Colleran did most of the damage at the plate: Boyer got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Colleran went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Colleran has hit this season. Jacob Merheb was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

St. Ignatius' win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Mayfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Ignatius will challenge Mentor at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mayfield, they will head out to challenge University School at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Preppers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
