Football Game Preview: St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints vs. Episcopal Maroon

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes hasn't had much luck against Episcopal recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Saints will square off against the Maroon at 5:00 p.m. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes has given up an average of 33.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Potomac School on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Saints came up short against the Panthers, falling 35-14. On the bright side, the 14- point performance marked the Saints' highest-scoring contest to date.

Although St. Stephen's & St. Agnes took the loss, they still got scores from Gabe Murphy and Walker Ferry.

Meanwhile, Episcopal didn't have too much trouble with Maret on Friday as they won 34-20. The win was all the more spectacular given the Maroon's disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 54th in Virginia, while the Frogs are ranked eighth in District of Columbia).

The victory made it two in a row for Episcopal and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.0 points over those games. As for St. Stephen's & St. Agnes, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes was dealt a bruising 35-0 loss at the hands of Episcopal when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Saints avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
