Franklin County is 8-2 against Rushville since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Lions at 5:30 p.m.

Franklin County fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Rushville on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 5-4.

For Rushville's part, Casey Thompson made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Thompson posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Thompson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Woolf, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Another was Abel Coon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Rushville's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-15. Those home losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Franklin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
