Basketball Recap: Spring Valley Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Spring Valley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past the Somerset Sky Pointe Eagles with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 81-62.

Azea Melo-Powell went supernova, going 12-for-20 en route to 34 points and four steals. Those 34 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonovan Jeffery, who posted 13 points and five boards.

Spring Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-48 victory against Western on the 3rd. As for Somerset Sky Pointe, they will challenge Silverado at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
