Mathews has gone a perfect 10-0 against Maplewood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Rockets at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Monday, Mathews was able to grind out a solid win over Windham, taking the game 12-9.

Meanwhile, Maplewood came tearing into Monday's contest with 17 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Skippers a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Rockets have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Marker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Claire Urchek was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kya Dunbar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Maplewood's record now sits at 18-1. As for Mathews, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Mathews beat Maplewood 4-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
