Baseball Game Preview: Crossroads Roadrunners vs. Viewpoint Patriots

For the second straight game, Crossroads will face off against Viewpoint. The Roadrunners will take on the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Crossroads has three straight victories, Viewpoint has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Crossroads is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Viewpoint with a sharp 20-1 win on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Roadrunners considering their two-run performance the game before.

Leo Le Blanc made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Le Blanc was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jake McCaffrey and Avery Deutch did most of the damage at the plate: McCaffrey got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Deutch went 4-for-5 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. McCaffrey is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Oliver Winkler also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Crossroads kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matches.

Viewpoint's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Crossroads, their record is now 14-8.
