Softball Game Preview: Brewer Bears vs. Argyle Eagles

The Brewer Bears will square off against the Argyle Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brewer will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Brewer's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Tuesday, when they got past Springtown's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Bears were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Porcupines. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Keira Miller was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Charisma Johnson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

Brewer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Argyle took on Birdville on Thursday. The Eagles took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost four in a row.

Brewer's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Argyle, their loss dropped their record down to 15-14.

Brewer might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Argyle when the teams last played back in February. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
