Baseball Recap: Roman Catholic Takes a Loss

Roman Catholic had lost six straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-13 to make it seven. They lost 11-1 to the Father Judge Crusaders. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Cahillite couldn't push the score so high this time.

Roman Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Pat Buckley, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Father Judge, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.

On Father Judge's side, Shane Szychulski made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, Szychulski posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kevin Krause was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Matt Marino also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Roman Catholic is set to square off against their familiar foe Lansdale Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Father Judge will challenge rival St. Joseph's Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Crusaders 3.9, the Hawks 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
