Baseball Game Preview: El Paso Tigers vs. Burges Mustangs

The El Paso Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Burges Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Last Friday, El Paso didn't have quite enough to beat Jefferson and fell 3-1. The Tigers have struggled against the Silver Foxes recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Burges never let their opponents score on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Andress, sneaking past 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted against the Eagles since April 27, 2021.

The result came thanks to Victor Aguirre's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Burges saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adan Zavala, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Burges and bumps their season record up to 6-9-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for El Paso, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13-1.

El Paso suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Burges in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can El Paso avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
