Basketball Recap: Littleton Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Littleton challenged Summit on Friday. The Littleton Lions took a 32-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Summit Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Tigers are ranked 109th).

Despite the loss, Littleton still got an impressive performance from Vicky Whitney, who posted two points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Littleton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Summit's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stephanie Fuentes, who put up eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Fuentes a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Eytel, who had seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Littleton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Summit, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Littleton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-34 loss against Bear Creek on the 11th. As for Summit, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-35 defeat against D'Evelyn on the 11th.
