Basketball Recap: Douglass Skates Past Crossland with Ease

Douglass won the last time they faced Crossland and things went their way on Thursday too. The Douglass Eagles blew past the Crossland Cavaliers, posting a 75-25 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 31 points or more this season.

Douglass found their leader in freshman Naiy'Lah Crutchfield, who went 13 of 16 on her way to 27 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Crutchfield has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Neveah Daniels, who went 5 for 12 en route to 11 points and six rebounds.

Douglass was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Crossland's loss came despite strong showings from Kameron Dempsey and Zaida Birruete. Dempsey posted 12 points, while Birruete had 12 points.

Douglass' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-6. As for Crossland, they dropped their record down to 5-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Douglass has already played their next contest (against Potomac), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Crossland will host Largo at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
