Softball Recap: Lafayette Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Lafayette proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Henry Clay Blue Devils 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Generals have posted since March 31st.

The team relied heavily on Mckenzie Harney, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anna Clay Denton, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Lafayette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win (which was Lafayette's third in a row) raised their record to 14-12. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Henry Clay, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.

Lafayette will venture away from home to square off against Western Hills at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Henry Clay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
