Basketball Game Preview: South Caldwell Spartans vs. East Burke Cavaliers

South Caldwell hasn't had much luck against East Burke recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Spartans will head out to take on the Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

East Burke will be up against a hot South Caldwell team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Spartans blew past West Caldwell 44-24 on Friday.

South Caldwell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Whitman, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Holland Weisner, who had 11 points.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for East Burke on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew St. Stephens out of the water with a 44-12 final score. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

South Caldwell's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for East Burke, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Things could have been worse for South Caldwell, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 77-58 loss to East Burke in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Spartans, Braelyn Stilwell (who almost dropped a double-double with 28 points and nine assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
