Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Braddock's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Florida Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Braddock proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Patriots, sneaking past 2-0. The Bulldogs were shut out 5-0 the last time they took on the Patriots, so the Bulldogs were just returning the favor.

Braddock got a great performance from Miguel Diaz as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Diaz has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brayan Martinez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Manny Sanchez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Braddock has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That lines up perfectly with their 16-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Florida Christian, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10.

Looking ahead, Braddock will challenge Coral Shores at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hurricanes will roll in looking for their 16th straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Florida Christian, they will square off against JC Bermudez Doral at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots are facing the Thunder at the right time seeing as the Thunder are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
