The Point Pleasant Beach Garnet Gulls will head out to face off against the Brick Township Green Dragons at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Brick Township will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Point Pleasant Beach extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. Everything went the Garnet Gulls' way against Liberty as they made off with a 13-1 victory.
TOMMY CONROY made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
In other pitching news, BENNETT MOBERG looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, Point Pleasant Beach let BRODY POWERS and DANNY LUBACH run wild. POWERS went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI, while LUBACH went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave POWERS a new career-high. Another player making a difference was DANIEL STORCH, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Brick Township made easy work of Manchester Township on Thursday and carried off a 19-3 win.
Like Point Pleasant Beach, Brick Township also got a great game from a two-way player: Brannon McBride. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. McBride was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Chris Quick was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-3. Brayden Heatter was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Brick Township always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manchester Township only posted an OBP of .423.
Point Pleasant Beach pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 7.3 runs thus far. As for Brick Township, their record is now 2-0.
Point Pleasant Beach skirted past Brick Township 4-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2019. Do the Garnet Gulls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Green Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
