Basketball Recap: Lakewood Tigers vs. Columbine Rebels
Lakewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 90-47 defeat at the hands of the Columbine Rebels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-53 back in January.
Columbine's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dyson Boykin, who went 8-for-12 to rack up 20 points. Boykin is becoming a predictor of Columbine's success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is undefeated (and 9-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cash Boykin, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards.
Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 0-22. As for Columbine, their record now sits at 12-10.
Coming up, Lakewood will be playing at home against Bear Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Columbine, they are taking a road trip to square off against Chatfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbine is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.5 points per game this season.
