Preview: Wewoka Tigers vs. Carnegie Wildcats

The Wewoka Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Carnegie Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wewoka focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.

Last Tuesday, Wewoka didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Holdenville, but they still walked away with a 50-45 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Wewoka.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wewoka to victory, but perhaps none more so than Timber Carter, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Carter has scored at least 25% of Wewoka's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Awtumn Sipes-Louie, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Carnegie's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 56-28 loss at the hands of Fort Cobb-Broxton. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Carnegie in their matchups with Fort Cobb-Broxton: they've now lost three in a row.

Carnegie's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Elvira Lopez, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds, and Karlee Tahkofper who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Tahkofper's fifth in a row with at least ten points.

Carnegie struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Wewoka pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Carnegie, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Wewoka hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 51.4 points per game. It's a different story for Carnegie, though, as they've been averaging only 36.6 points per game. The only thing between Wewoka and another offensive beatdown is Carnegie.
