Softball Recap: Lakes Drops Season-High Score on Grayslake North

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakes). They blew past the Grayslake North Knights 22-9 on Tuesday. The Eagles not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024 (when they won 18-2).

Liv Tautges was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zoey Christian, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Lakes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Lakes and bumps their season record up to 9-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Grayslake North, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season.

Lakes will be playing at home against Round Lake at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grayslake North, they will head out on the road to face off against Carmel at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Corsairs have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
