Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Comes Up Short

If Roosevelt was feeling good fresh off their 82-55 takedown of Edison last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Roosevelt Teddies took an 81-62 bruising from the North Community Polars on Wednesday. The Teddies lost against the Polars in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 89-46 score last time.

Despite the loss, Roosevelt still got an impressive performance from Calvin Peterson, who went 8 for 16 en route to 25 points. Another player making a difference was Josiah Alexander, who posted seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matchups.

Roosevelt has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for North Community, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Roosevelt has already played their next contest (against Rockford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. North Community will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against St. Cloud Tech at 7:15 p.m. on February 3rd.
