You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Merrill Vandals's strategy against the Ashley Bears on Friday. Merrill blew past Ashley 50-29. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Merrill has posted against Ashley since March 5, 2021.
Despite the loss, Ashley saw an underclassman step up: Karissa Brady scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and two steals. Brady hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games.
Merrill's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Ashley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Merrill will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakeview at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Lakeview is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Ashley, they will face off against Vestaburg at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
