Baseball Recap: Gateway Charter Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Gateway Charter came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Moore Haven Terriers. The result was nothing new for the Griffins, who have now won three matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lisban Ramirez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brandon Lackwood was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Daniel Mendez was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Gateway Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Gateway Charter's record now sits at 5-3. As for Moore Haven, the loss was their first on the road, dropping their record down to 4-3.

Coming up, Gateway Charter will venture away from home to take on Evangelical Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Sentinels' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Griffins' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Moore Haven, they will be playing at home against Lehigh at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
