Soccer Game Preview: Eastside vs. Boiling Springs

The Eastside Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Boiling Springs Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Eastside is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Eastside's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Dorman. Give Eastside's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Thomas Becerra and Christos Fotinos scored both of Eastside's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Boiling Springs, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was Boiling Springs who was credited with the win on Thursday. Boiling Springs got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to James F. Byrnes' three. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Eastside's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five contests. As for Boiling Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Eastside beat Boiling Springs 2-0 in their previous matchup on March 6th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastside since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
