Basketball Recap: Duval Charter Takes a Loss

Duval Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Middleburg Broncos, falling 71-5.

Middleburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makayla Burns led the charge by going 8 for 10 on her way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiyana Haynes, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 16 points.

Duval Charter's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Middleburg, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.

Duval Charter will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Middleburg at 6:00 p.m. on January 13, 2025. Middleburg will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Trinity Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
