Baseball Recap: Westview's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Westview lost against Green Valley back in April of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Wolverines fell just short of the Gators by a score of 4-2. The match marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Jayden Hardy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Eli Irvine was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ethan Holeman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Westview's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4. As for Green Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westview will take on Christian in a tournament on Friday. As for Green Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against Mira Mesa at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
