Basketball Recap: Chandler Prep Titans vs. Valley Lutheran Flames
Chandler Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 52-36 bruising from the Valley Lutheran Flames. The Titans lost against the Flames in their previous head to head back in December of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 53-8 score last time.
Valley Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Natalia Hernandez led the charge by going 7 of 10 en route to 17 points along with eight steals and seven boards. What's more, Hernandez also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Viddiate Clinton was another key player, going 5 for 9 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight steals and seven boards.
Chandler Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Valley Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Chandler Prep will face off against Pima at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Valley Lutheran, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 34-32 victory against Tempe on the 4th.
