Palmyra-Macedon is 8-2 against Geneva since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Red Raiders will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Palmyra-Macedon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Palmyra-Macedon lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Midlakes, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's match. The Red Raiders never let the Screaming Eagles get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Raiders considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Tino LoPresto was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Palmyra-Macedon got a massive performance out of Noah DaPolito, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Camron Quick was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Palmyra-Macedon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Geneva ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Newark 4-3.
Geneva's victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ben Santos, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those RBI were Santos' first of the season.
Geneva's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Palmyra-Macedon, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Palmyra-Macedon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Geneva struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Palmyra-Macedon beat Geneva 7-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Red Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
