Football Recap: Turner Golden Bears vs. Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds
Turner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds at home and fell 69-30. The Golden Bears lost against the Thunderbirds in their previous head to head back in October of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 60-0 score last time.
Despite the loss, Turner had strong showings from Erickson George, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and Josue Castillo, who rushed for 180 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave Castillo a new career-high in rushing yards.

As for Shawnee Heights, they will square off against Spring Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Spring Hill will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Shawnee Heights surely won't give up without a fight.
