Soccer Preview: Sumter vs. Blythewood
Sumter hasn't had much luck against Blythewood recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Gamecocks will head out to face off against the Bengals at 7:15 p.m. Sumter's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Tuesday, Sumter didn't have quite enough to beat Summerville and fell 5-4.
The Gamecocks hit the Green Wave with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ethan Simpson, Luis Julian Hernandez, Ethan Gaertner, and Alexander Krivejko.
Meanwhile, Blythewood had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Blazers as they made off with an 11-0 win. Blythewood might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by three goals or more this season.
Blythewood pushed their record up to 17-3-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those seven games. As for Sumter, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
