Baseball Game Preview: Dickinson Rams vs. Hodgson Vo-Tech Eagles

Dickinson hasn't had much luck against Hodgson Vo-Tech recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. Dickinson will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Dickinson barely beat McKean the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams blew past the Highlanders 10-3 on Saturday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Carter Nelson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Asante Jones was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Dickinson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-9 when he doesn't). Mark Brown was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Hodgson Vo-Tech had just enough and edged out McKean 3-2 on Thursday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Highlanders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Dickinson's record is now 7-9. As for Hodgson Vo-Tech, their record now sits at an identical 7-9.

Dickinson suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Hodgson Vo-Tech in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
