Softball Recap: George Washington Eagles vs. Philadelphia Academy Charter Chargers
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, George Washington couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Philadelphia Academy Charter Chargers by a score of 6-4 on Monday. This is the Eagles'third heartbreak in a row against the Chargers following a 7-2 back in April of 2024.
Yamaily Madera Martinez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Becca Varhula, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
George Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Philadelphia Academy Charter, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
George Washington wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-5 win against Central on the 27th. As for Philadelphia Academy Charter, they have also already played their next matchup, a 13-12 victory against Franklin Towne on the 20th.
