Softball Recap: Puckett Wolves vs. Loyd Star Hornets
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Puckett had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Loyd Star Hornets and snuck past 5-4. The win was familiar territory for Puckett who now have five in a row.
Puckett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marlee Dampeer, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
On Loyd Star's side, Abby Burnette made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Adi Holcomb was another key contributor, going 1-for-2 with a stolen base and an RBI.
Puckett has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which somehow isn't as good as their 25-8 record this season. As for Loyd Star, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-9-3.
