Recap: Trenton Tigers vs. Chiefland Indians
The Trenton Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 23 points or more this season. They took their match on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 59-21 win over Chiefland. Winning may never get old, but Trenton sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Trenton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brianna Karanja out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Karanja is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Koi Perry, who scored seven points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nyasia Bivins, who scored 12 points. The matchup was Bivins' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Brianna Bell was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five steals.
Trenton's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Chiefland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trenton and Branford will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Branford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 570th, while Trenton is ranked 100th). Chiefland will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Oak Hall at 6:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
