Soccer Game Preview: Matoaca vs. Prince George

The Matoaca Warriors will head out to challenge the Prince George Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Matoaca proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by three) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Hopewell 3-2. Three seems to be a good number for Matoaca as the team scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Devin Cooper and Dylan Smith scored all three of Matoaca's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Meanwhile, Prince George kept a clean sheet against Meadowbrook on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Monarchs.

Matoaca has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five contests. As for Prince George, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-4-2.

Matoaca came out on top in a nail-biter against Prince George in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
