Baseball Game Preview: Baldwin Highlanders vs. Gateway Gators

The Baldwin Highlanders are taking a road trip to face off against the Gateway Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Baldwin will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Baldwin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on McKeesport with a sharp 24-0 victory on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Highlanders with their most commanding win of the season.

Meanwhile, Gateway has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.5 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They lost 13-1 to Kiski Area. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Gators have suffered since April 30, 2024.

Gateway saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roman Jennings, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Gateway has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Baldwin, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.

Everything went Baldwin's way against Gateway when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Baldwin made off with a 12-1 victory. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Gators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
