Volleyball Recap: Lanphier Comes Up Short

Lanphier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springfield Southeast Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Springfield Southeast found their leader in sophomore Josey Grant, who had 12 digs and one assist.

Lanphier's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Springfield Southeast, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-12.

Lanphier and Springfield Southeast could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Lions will challenge Sacred Heart-Griffin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (560 vs. 142). Meanwhile, Springfield Southeast (ranked 553rd) will meet Glenwood (ranked 19th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
