Basketball Game Preview: Northwestern Warriors vs. Shawnee Braves

Northwestern is 0-5 against Shawnee since February of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Northwestern Warriors will face off against the Shawnee Braves at 7:30 p.m.

Last Saturday, Northwestern came up short against Emmanuel Christian Academy and fell 52-41.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mason McDermott, who posted 12 points. McDermott is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brayden Spencer, who had five points.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Shawnee on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Graham Local out of the water with a 54-16 final score. The Braves pushed the score to 41-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons had little chance of recovering from.

The victory got Shawnee back to even at 1-1. As for Northwestern, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Northwestern was dealt a bruising 49-14 defeat at the hands of Shawnee in their previous meeting back in January. Can Northwestern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
