Baseball Recap: Aquinas Academy Comes Up Short

If Aquinas Academy was feeling good fresh off their 12-2 takedown of Summit Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Aquinas Academy came up short against Winchester Thurston on Monday, falling 20-7. The loss continues a trend for the Crusaders in their meetings with Winchester Thurston: they've now lost three in a row.

Aquinas Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Yohe, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Ian Patterson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Aquinas Academy's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2. As for Winchester Thurston, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

While Aquinas Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
