Morris Catholic climbs to No. 1 in MaxPreps Top 25 girls basketball rankings after third straight state title in New Jersey

Etiwanda, Bradley Central among other ranked teams to win state titles over the weekend.

Morris Catholic (Denville, N.J.) is the new No. 1 in the MaxPreps Top 25 high school girls basketball rankings after winning its third straight New Jersey state title over the weekend.

The Crusaders ascend to the top spot after previously top-ranked Ontario Christian (Ontario) fell to California Open Division champion Etiwanda in the regional final. The Eagles 

Etiwanda climbs three spots after winning an unprecedented third straight title in the Golden State's top division.

In the Garden State, Mya Pauldo fueled Morris Catholic with a game-high 21 points and five boards in the 54-44 win over Paul VI (Haddonfield), which came into the final unbeaten as well. Twin Mia Pauldo added 15 points, five boards and four assists while Loyola-Chicago commit Daniella Matus pitched in 11 points and five boards. 



The Pauldo twins, who are headed to Tennessee, finish a stellar run at Morris Catholic with three state titles, four county titles and a 107-5 record.

Etiwanda completed its own trifecta with a convincing 75-59 win over No. 7 Archbishop Mitty (San Jose). It was the third straight year head coach Stan Delus' squad took down the Monarchs in the state final. Arynn Finley led the way for the Eagles with a game-high 21 points, including 17 in the first half, while Cal-bound Aliyahna Morris added 12 and LSU commit Grace Knox 10.

No. 4 Bradley Central (Cleveland, Tenn.) was another program to win its third consecutive title with a dominating 70-22 win over Barlett on Saturday. It was the ninth overall title for the Bearettes, who were led Saturday by a game-high 19 points from Avary Brewer and 14 from tournament MVP Kimora Fields. TaTianna Stovall had 14 points in the championship win while Harmonie Ware added 12 points and eight rebounds.

In Virginia, No. 8 Princess Anne (Virginia Beach) notched its 15th state crown behind 17 points, nine rebounds and eight blocks from Micah Ojo. Tristan Rickenbacker added 16 points and 15 boards. The Cavaliers used a 22-4 second quarter run to separate from Fleming in the 70-28 victory.

In Minnesota, No. 12 Providence Academy (Plymouth) won its record fourth straight title, capturing the Class 2A crown and completing an unbeaten season behind prolific-scoring junior Maddyn Greenway. She dropped 40, including 23 in the first half, in an 81-63 victory over Crosby-Ironton (Crosby, Minn.).

Putnam City North (Oklahoma City, Okla.) won its first state title, beating Mustang 65-48 for the Class 6A gold ball. Nykaiya Dillard and Brandie Harrod each had 18 points as the No. 13 Panthers finished the season on a 21-game win streak.

Grandview (Aurora, Colo.) jumps 11 spots after winning its third Class 6A title in four seasons. UCLA commit Sienna Betts posted a game-high 21 points, 16 rebounds, five assists and three steals in a 61-39 victory over Legend (Parker). She finished her career with over 2,000 points and is Colorado's all-time leading rebounder, boys or girls.



LSU commit ZaKiyah Johnson led No. 24 Sacred Heart (Louisville, Ky.) to its fifth straight Kentucky title, scoring 15 of her game-high 21 in the second half as the Valkyries beat George Rogers Clark (Winchester) 65-60.
