Softball Recap: Chippewa Sets Scoring Season-High Against Firestone

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dalton, Chippewa was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Firestone Falcons 14-12. The Chipps' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

MADI RIES was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. KYLEIGH GARTIN was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Chippewa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.2.

Chippewa's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12. As for Firestone, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Chippewa wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-2 win against Smithville on the 13th. As for Firestone, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-6 loss against Roosevelt on the 12th.
