Basketball Recap: Wamego Comes Up Short

Wamego played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 73-33 defeat at the hands of the Andover Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Red Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Trojans are ranked 58th).

Joshua Kim continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Andover, going 10 for 13 on his way to 24 points and four steals. That's the most points Kim has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Allman, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points.

Wamego has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Andover, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wamego has already played their next game (against Rock Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Andover will face off against Salina Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th.
