Softball Recap: St. James Takes a Loss

St. James was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the French Settlement Lions, falling 12-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.

St. James saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyric Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Emma Aucoin also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

St. James' defeat dropped their record down to 4-19. As for French Settlement, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. James will challenge Holden at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for French Settlement, they will venture away from home to square off against Northshore at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
