Softball Recap: Sabine Comes Up Short

Sabine blew West Rusk out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday West Rusk got their revenge. The Cardinals fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 17-15. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (14), the Cardinals still had to take the loss.

Emma Bradford stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Madison Pierce, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Sabine dropped their record down to 1-13 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for West Rusk, the win snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 2-8 record.

Looking ahead, Sabine will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Troup at 6:00 p.m. The Tigers will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Rusk, they are taking a road trip to take on Arp at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last eight contests.
